Office Refurbishment, Manchester
This office refurbishment comprises a seven storey Edwardian warehouse situated in the Smithfield conservation area later converted into offices was completely refurbished and transformed into a mixed use building incorporating residential apartments, a new health club and restaurant.
The existing cast iron steel frame was renovated whereas the original stairs and lifts replaced with a single load bearing lift and stair core to the centre of the plan allowing the industrial scale sash windows to light the 78 new apartments. The existing top floor was removed and replaced with six two-storey duplex apartments with barrel-vaulted roofs creating a striking new profile to the city roofscape.
